YOUR CAR, IN THE PICTURE

A closer look, from wherever your car is.

The planned online self-assessment helps you share your car’s condition through guided photos, videos and a few straightforward questions.

SHOW THE EVERYDAY DETAILS

A number plate can only tell us so much.

Current photos and honest answers help build a more useful picture of your car.

The self-assessment is designed for a phone, with clear prompts for what to capture next. You don’t need a polished advertisement or professional photography. You need a safe place, good light and a clear view of the car as it is.

This page explains the intended experience. Photo capture, uploads, saved progress and assessment links are not active in the website preview.

THREE PARTS. ONE CLEAR PICTURE.

Here’s what to expect.

01 · PHOTOS FIRST

Capture the key views.

Follow the prompts around the exterior and through the interior. Show the odometer and relevant details, then give scratches, dents or damage their own clear photo.

Check each image for blur, reflections and anything blocking the view. Retake it when needed.

02 · VIDEOS NEXT

Add a little more context.

Separate video prompts will help capture details that benefit from movement or sound. Keep the camera steady and follow the instructions shown.

Only capture from a safe, stationary position. Never use your phone to record while driving.

03 · CONDITION QUESTIONS

Fill in what the camera can’t.

Share what you know about servicing, warning lights, repairs, keys and the way the car runs. Explain anything a reviewer should take into account.

If you aren’t sure about something, say so. Accuracy is more helpful than a guess.

Before you pick up your phone

Park somewhere safe and well lit, with enough room to move around the vehicle. Have the keys nearby, wipe the camera lens and check your phone has enough charge. Remove personal items or documents you don’t want to appear in the images.

Photograph damage rather than trying to hide it. A useful assessment shows the real condition, including everyday wear. You can describe anything that is difficult to capture visually.

Pausing, returning and submitting

The planned service will save confirmed progress as you go and provide an emailed link for returning to an unfinished assessment. Access links are intended to last seven days; the live page will show the relevant expiry details.

Before submission, you’ll review the information you’ve provided. A submitted assessment will be locked for review. If a correction or more evidence is needed afterwards, the team will need to reopen the relevant part.

Not a mechanical inspection

A self-assessment records the information and evidence you provide. It does not replace an independent mechanical inspection or confirm that a car has no faults.
